Why Is Proper Sterilization of Urban Animals Important?

Sterilization is important because:
✅ It prevents the overpopulation of homeless animals.
✅ It helps control and reduce hormone-driven undesirable behaviors.
✅ It lowers health risks for animals.
✅ It decreases the number of abandoned puppies, as well as the suffering of hungry, injured, and helpless dogs.

Given the high reproduction rate of dogs and cats, countries that have attempted to control their populations through culling have not seen effective or lasting results. The only logical and humane solution to population control is sterilization.

When sterilization is combined with vaccination, it not only reduces the number of stray animals but also improves the health of those who remain. Spaying and neutering neighborhood dogs and returning them to their territory naturally leads to a population decline over time. Additionally, sterilized and vaccinated dogs, easily recognized by their ear tags, are more likely to be accepted by the community.
