Lucky

Lucky

Date of adoption: March 13, 2011 – Naghmeh Amini (Fereydoon Shahr, Mazandaran, Iran)

Hi. My name is Lucky. My savior angel gave me this name wishing me to be lucky and happy as long as I live.

On a hot Summer day in Tehran, I found refuge near a house. I was terribly tried and starved, and had been bitten by other dogs. I learned to steal the chickens’ food to survive until one day the chickens noticed me and then the lady of the house caught me in the action. She was very surprised to see me. She called me into the yard and I happily followed her. Then she fetched a leash, tied me in a shaded spot and brought me food and water. I was too tired to eat or bark and could only whimper. She fed me some yummy chicken and rice, and later a much needed bath.

A few days later she, now my Mom, took me to the doctor to have me checked up and vaccinated. I did not take that very well and put up a fit. Therefore, he did not like me at all and told my mom that I am a worthless stray. Little he knew of me and what I had been through. But he gave me some shots any how.

I was doing better until a genitals infection ran me down. She called on some doctors but they would not even come near me as I was barking out for fear and pain. I think I was very close to death when finally a kind doctor named Karevani found it in his heart to take time and calm me down and treat me. I was all better after a week.

In my new home, there are two older little dogs named Aani and Barfi, and a big furry cat named Moosh-moosh. My mom keeps us separate most of the time since the dogs and I roughed it out lately and accidently my mom got bit while breaking us up. She was very mad at me and looked into giving me up but no one wanted me.

In the meanwhile, as my fur grew back and I looked better on the outside, I learned some tricks to win her heart. She loves it when I fetch toys for her, beg for belly rubs, chase imaginary visitors around the yard, or let her hand feed me. I love my name and run to her when she calls for me.

Now, we are so connected and in love that she is not willing to give me up. We belong to one another, can not bear the separation.

Foxy

Foxy

Adopted on Jan 11, 2012 – Keihani Family – Tehran, Iran

Six year old Foxy is another one of Vafa’s little guests who got lucky lately with efforts of Ms. Gandom Tadrissi.

Ms. Bahareh Pour-Ahmadi tells us how this union came about:

We had been thinking about getting a small dog for a while but didn’t know what breed would suit our lifestyle.

One day a friend asked us to take care of a dog that she had found until the owners were located. In the process of searching for the owners we ended up on Facebook and other websites where we learned about different rescue groups which made us change our mind from buying a dog to rescuing one. That is how we reached out to Ms. Tadrissi who after talking about our priorities suggested Foxy to us. We liked him right away since he was quiet and calm, and we brought him home with us the next day. He made his way into every one’s heart very quickly and soon we noticed many other qualities about him. He is very smart and not a nonesense barker, not a chewer, and very much house broken. He never gets tired of going on walks. He is great with other people and animals even cats unless the other party picks on him. Although, he gets a little jealous if we pay too much attention to another dog. He is a sound sleeper. When we take him to a friend’s house, after a quick study of the place he will politely settle near us.

The more we think about it the more we realize Foxy is the best dog we could ask for and we are so grateful for having him in our lives. He has brought a lot of happiness to our home. He has become a source of love in our home and we do our best to make forget any hardship that he had to live through before he found us.

We love him very very much.

Scotty & Jina (Toxando)

Scotty & Jina (Toxando)

Scotty, the little puppy, was hungry and homeless when he was found by a friend of Vafa at Chitgar Park (near Tehran). He was brought to the Shelter. Last year, after a few months stay at the Shelter together with Toxando (a puppy born at the Shelter) they were adopted by a kind family. The two had a good life. However, after a year due to family problems they were brought back to the shelter. The two were lucky since the very kind Aratoonian family decided to adopt them.

Scotty and Toxando (whose new name is Jina) have been given a home in a beautiful suburban garden and are very happy, having a good time with their kind new family.

Flirty & Fox (Afsaneh & Parvaz)

Flirty & Fox (Afsaneh & Parvaz)

The day Mr. and Mrs. Mafi came to the Shelter we were surprised by their enthusiasm and their confusion about choosing their dogs. Mr. Mafi closed his eyes and asked us to choose two dogs for him. If we left it to them, they probably would take all the dogs home with them. At the end luck was with Afsaneh and Parvaz.

Afsaneh was the puppy who was brought to the Shelter with a broken paw and Parvaz had eye problems. Mr. Mafi wanted to take them home and pay them special attention. The two were given new names–Flirty and Foxy and are very happy with The Mafi family and have a great time in their new home.

Kama & Kayzee

Kama & Kayzee

It has been a year since the day Kama was adopted by Mr. Noori to be the guard for his place of business – heavy machinery parking garage. It was love-at-first-sight between Kama & Mr. Noori during his visit at Vafa.

Mr. Noori cuddled him and after the screening process, Kama was sent ‘home’ with him Kama & Taffy-who was personally found and rescued by Mr Noori himself, seem to have the time of their lives playing around at their new home. They build up a good team. Also the friendship between Mr. Noori and Kama is admirable! Since that day, Kama has experienced nothing short of happiness. He reached his ultimate joy upon seeing his old friend, Kayzee who also lived at vafa shelter.Mr Noori adopted Kayzee to join the security team The dogs are freely pacing around the lot and play and guard the chickens too. We are truly appreciative of Mr. Noori’s kind gesture for adopting these homeless dogs and giving them love and a home of their own.We wish Mr. Noori health, joy, and prosperity.
