World Spay day started as Spay Day USA in 1995, to promote spays and neuters across the country to help eliminate the problem of homeless pets. This day became a world event in 2006.

World Spay Day draws attention to “spay/neuter as a proven means of saving the lives of companion animals, community (feral and stray) cats, and street dogs who might otherwise be put down in a shelter or killed on the street.” It is an event held on the last Tuesday in February each year.

By spaying or neutering pets, we are helping control the pet homelessness crisis, which results in millions of healthy dogs and cats being euthanized around the world each year simply because there aren’t enough homes to go around. There are also medical and behavioral benefits to spaying (female pets) and neutering (male pets) animals.
In many countries including Iran, nobody knows how many homeless cats or dogs are living in all kind of dangers every day. In many countries including Iran, killing is considered as fastest and easiest way to handle the problem of over population.

Based on scientific evidences with spaying/neutering the female pet will live a longer, healthier life and the male pet prevents testicular cancer and some prostate problems.
There are also proved behavioral benefits for your pet since the female won’t go into heat. Your male pet will be less likely to roam away from home for a mate. They also behave better in general.
