Happy World Veterinary Day!

Happy World Veterinary Day!

Veterinary is where being passionate for animals meets with science, and it means health and happiness for the voiceless creatures. Perhaps animals’ welfare has been always a concern for human, but with veterinary science involvement the situation for animals has been completely changed for better. We don’t know how many animals’ lives are saved every year by veterinarians, or how many animals are prevented from all kind of illnesses because of vaccination, or how many animals are safe because they get spayed /neutered. The most important mission for veterinary medicine is to prevent animals from pain, suffering and stress.

In Iran (Persia) the oldest substantial documents reflection official and professional health care for domesticated animals goes back to around 200AD. (During the Sassanian Reign). Nowadays (or today) these professionals are one of the most important part of animals rescue in Iran, especially for stray cats and dogs, and any rescue mission seems impossible without them.

Vafa Animal Shelter has been always proud to have help and support of the best veterinary teams and doctors. On behalf of more than 1000 fury residents of Vafa (in both Hashtgerd and Qazvin location) we thank all veterinarians specially our dear and great friend Dr. Abedi and Dr. Amini, Dr. Malmasi and their beautiful team. Happy World Veterinary Day!

Nava

NavaAdopted by Coe Family -May 23, 2015 – Kensington, CA -I can’t believe that it has been one year since we adopted beautiful Nava! In that time she has really enjoyed going on vacations with us to Carmel, Calistoga, Sonoma and Healdsburg. She also loves going on hikes with us on the nearby trails and loves the beach and walks near the bay! One of her favorite things is going out for coffee with us and just being close, always nuzzling us or rolling over for more love.It took almost no time for Nava to feel at home. She has her favorite places she likes to sleep and loves meeting new people. She and Buddy (our golden) are kindred spirits and like staying close to one another. I can’t believe how lucky we are to have her gentle spirit in our lives!Mary Coe

World Animal Day-2016

World Animal Day-2016

The first day of October is very important for those who care about nature. If you were to look at different countries’ calendars you would find that this week is dedicated to animals. The first day of October is World Vegetarian Day. Vegetarians are people who have changed their life style to respect animals.
The second day of October is World Day for Farmed Animals. These animals come into the world only to be slaughtered.
The fourth day of October is International Animal day. On this day animal activities try hard to bring awareness to this matter. If you are on this page and reading these words it means that you already care about animals. You can help out your best friends not only on this day, but every day. Some things that you can do are give food to strays ( cats, dogs, or birds), donate money or shelter needs or be a volunteer. It can be as simple as taking you neighbor’s dog for walk. Any of these little things results in creating
a safer society for these animals. Lastly, these days can be a very good learning opportunity for the younger generation. Reading books about animals, taking children to the shelters or dog parks. Encouraging them to help with making food for strays are all simple steps to help them to be a better human beings and making animal lives easier.
Happy International Animals day everybody!
